Our tour started with a muffuletta sandwich at Serio's Po-Boys. A muffuletta sandwich was invented so that workers with no access to refrigeration for their lunch bags could still pack a sandwich for lunch. Instead of using mayonnaise that could spoil, they used an chopped olive in olive oil mix.
